Emeritus Professor Vanda Broughton

I am a professional librarian and library science academic.  I have worked in public academic and school libraries and was acting Head of Library Services at the Suffolk College in the 1990s.  Since then, I have been a member of academic staff in the Department of Information Studies at University College London, teaching in the area of knowledge organization, classification and indexing.

I read Theology at Cambridge and the classification of religions and of religious literature has always been a particular interest, as is the Hebrew Bible.  I was involved with SIFRE almost from its outset and at different times have taught a beginners’ class in Biblical Hebrew.  I have helped with various library collections held by SIFRE and then EEFA, most recently the setting up of the new library formed by the merger of the EEFA collection and the St. Edmundsbury Cathedral Library.
