Born
in Cheshire just south of Manchester, David studied chemistry at Birmingham University
before becoming a member of the research staff at Essex University in
1965. A lifelong Anglican, he became involved with the Anglican chaplaincy
there in 1974 and was a member of the Appeal Trust which led to the formation
of a Multi-Faith Chaplaincy there in the early 1980s and he was a founder
member of the Committee of Management of the Multi-Faith Centre.
On retirement he became a Trustee Director of the Suffolk Inter-Faith
Resource and served as its Treasurer and Hon. Executive Officer.
He served on and became chairman of the National Council of Faith and Belief
in Further Education.
Together with his wife, Cynthia, he was instrumental in founding the East of
England Faiths Agency C.I.C. in 2001 and is its Company Secretary.
David enjoys his voluntary inter-faith work and rejoices in the fact that as
he learns more of other faiths, the more he gains insights into his own
faith.
